My favorite story to share when needing some road side assistance comes from a race trip a couple of years ago, where my lovely clunker decided to take a nap on I-40 about 10 miles from the race....Fortunately the beast was kind enough to let me get off of the exit and we slow-rolled into a Texaco, where she immediately decided to evacuate her oil reservoir. Nice. Since it was an early Sunday morning (crack'o'dawn) and I was in the middle of bumble, I decided to do what most rational human beings would do in this situation, and I kit'd-up, hopped on the rig and used the distance as a warm-up for the crit. LOL. Rolled into town about 30 secs before the start feverishly trying to pin a number on my sweaty skin suit that had obviously shrunk from the last wash.... hit the start line for this kind of action...ha. halfway thru my awesome display of suffering, I came to the realization that, shoot, I was still gonna need to find a way home lol...and, a tow truck. True story. (for the record, I got shelled, took me half a day to find a wrecker and I totally destroyed all the liquid bread afterwards).
